VIDEO: Madonna gets her bottom out for Irish fans

She also complained about our weather, apparently.

PLAYING TO THOUSANDS at the Aviva Stadium last night, Madonna elected to give her bottom an airing.

She also complained a lot about the rain, according to Twitter users at the gig.

Madge’s tour has been closely followed by neatly manufactured ‘controversies’ thanks to her flexibility with her wardrobe.

An audience in Istanbul was treated to an eyeful of her right breast, while fans in Paris got the left. (Video links NSFW, obviously.)

So perhaps Dublin’s Madge lovers should consider themselves lucky that they got both sides of the Queen of Pop’s throne in this rather schoolboy-ish mooning (Video possibly NSFW, depending on your boss):

However, a certain Today FM presenter wasn’t impressed:

Matt Cooper Madonna

And he continued to be unimpressed until leaving the gig early.

As if that wasn’t enough, the audience at the Aviva Stadium were also treated to one of Dublin’s inimitable downpours. Umbrellas were banned, so they had to just stand in the rain.

Madonna, apparently, had a special man with an umbrella to keep her dry. But it doesn’t seem to have worked:

But not everyone was disappointed:

If she had someone holding up an umbrella for her she could have at least got him to hold up her arse too.

    • Exactly. It’s not as if we’re forced to buy their records or concert tickets. I’m not a Madonna fan by any stretch and I think she’s a stone cold person but I envy her energy and fitness and commitment. If you like her music go and enjoy it.

  • Fantastic night..got soaked….enjoyed it all. Love the comments from those that were not there. Didn’t see the show, and obviously hate Madonna or people who are over a certain age still doing their thing. Your entitled to your opinion, but remember she is the biggest female artist of all time by a long shot. As for Matt Copper and his tweet about no one getting excited at the end of Human Nature, from where I was in the Aviva, the crowd lapped it up.
Madonna did not let the rain get her down. The umbrella came out twice through the whole show, and both times the rain was extremely heavy. She danced on the catwalk through the rain. Doing routines I dare anyone half her age to try, without doing themselves an injury.

And as for the umbrella being taken off people going in. If everyone had an umbrella up no one would have seen anything at all. It’s not Madonna’s fault that the Aviva was built without a retractable roof.(everyone know what our weather is like

Similar to lady gaga she seems to have a fair sized cult following, I’m surprised so many men on here listen to her… Il get called a troll for this but it is a fair point ?

  • Sad If she had to resort to that to keep her fans interested!!!!

  • I was at the concert yesterday and Madonna was very good- I thought she put in a great show and she seemed to be enjoying herself. The people standing on the pitch were rained on but most people bought ponchos from the street sellers outside.
I think a lot of people deride her for her age etc but I do think she is just doing her own thing and more power to her.

  • I saw her about 8 years ago in Slane and the same thing happened there, we were all getting pissed on and some poor eejit had to stand behind her holding an umbrella while she played guitar. I was such a fan of hers until that concert, about 20 of us went and all vowed never again afterwards…she just came across as arrogant and bored. So disappointing.

    Reply
  • She would’ve been better off in the O2 than in a half empty stadium, there clearly isn’t the demand for her anymore. She comes across as a completely humourless individual I have to say, her show looks remarkably joyless for what is supposed to be a pop concert

    Reply
    • I was there and the stadium wasn’t half empty and the show was far from joyless despite the incessant rain.

    • Niall 25/07/12 #

The pitch was half empty and you could move freely in the stands. The gig was far from a sell out and all the reviews in the papers were awful. Time to pack it in for madge or else perhaps start playing live and with real passion. Cold as ice this woman is.

  • Refraining from making any idiotic comments about either her age or her physique as I am, it does seem to me, from all I’ve heard, that she’s an absolute b*tch to work for or with. The video of her ‘performance’ doesn’t inspire much confidence in her musical abilities either although there’s no denying her status as a musical icon… of the 20th century.

  • This is a serious issue and well worthy of all the comments. Wonder should it go to a referendum or better still Joe Duffy.

4 times ! Good to see Irish people investing wisely in their future

      Reply
    • Cop yourself on, Peter. So going to see your favourite artists more than once is somehow to be frowned upon? What about the ways in which it supports stadium employees etc.? Boy George once said that Madonna (whome he regards as humourless) could benefit from an hour in a bouncy castle. Maybe she should let you have a go when she’s finished.

  • Enjoying all the negative comments from those who weren’t there based on a tweet by Matt Cooper. I was on the pitch in a poncho like most and people were loving it. She put on a fab show and come the end the stadium was rocking with everyone dancing. Stadium wasn’t half empty btw. Sure if Cooper says it was poor it must’ve been, regardless of all the ppl on here who were there saying otherwise. I for one had a great night. Sure only making my way home now at midday

Madonna was excellent last night, people need to just admit it! She was joking about the rain and was a complete trouper when it came to performing IN IT without complaining and with complete gusto.

Left the concert with 2 songs to go, couldn’t be bothered listening to her anymore. No atmosphere, most people bored! She did look amazing though and her arse is great for a 53 year old!!!

  • Serge 25/07/12 #

And this is precisely why a lot of people hate her. She’s 53 and she performs concerts with no pants on.

    Reply
  • Look, fair dues to the woman for her success, and she has kept very toned and looks very well (but yogalates and a personal trainer will do that for you).
What I can’t stand about her is people calling her a musician.

She’s not famous for music, she has always been famous for whatever controversy she can whip up, whatever “in” producer she can get to mix her albums, whatever stars she can put in her videos, and now it seems she’s actually reverting to nudity.

There’s far more talented men and women out there, but they don’t get the airtime (and write *music* as opposed to irritatingly catchy 3 minute jingles).
It’s not exclusively Madonna I can’t stand, but she is sort of the ambassador for the commercialised crap that gets passed off as pop “music”. It’s more about the celebrity than the musical ability or talent..

Compare her to people like Kate Bush, Zeppelin, the Beatles, etc.. She’s not making “music”, she’s selling an image with a theme tune.. It’s not the same.

    Reply
    • She’s not famous for music? Vogue, Like A Prayer, La Isla Bonita, Ray of Light, Sorry, Hung Up, Like A Virgin, Frozen – to name but a few. Show me one contemporary pop star that doesn’t have guest stars and producers. None of them, they all do these days. In her early days she didn’t have any stars or “in” producers. Madonna is one of the greatest pop stars of all time. To attempt to compare her to Kate Bush, Zeppelin, the Beatles is akin to comparing coffee and tea – two hot drinks but completely different. Madonna’s pop, the artists you mention are not. Still the fact you mention her amongst those greats says it all.

      Reply
    • Pop music.. Says it all really.. Manufactured bubble gum.. Like Bill Hicks said – musicians should play from their heart.. Maybe even write their own music?
      Like a Virgin? Controversy
      Hung Up? Thank you Abba
Frozen? Trying to be Björk and using Chris Cunningham for his fame via Aphex Twin.
She asked Aphex Twin for remixes of Ray of Light you know.. He told her he’d do it if she barked like a dog for 30 mins.. If she wanted to ride on his coat tails she would need to pay the price. Hence no Aphex twin remixes..

      Reply
    • Yeah, pop music. If you had an in-depth knowledge of her back catalogue you’d also know that describing her as bubble gum pop is so far off the mark. Some of it is yes, but mostly not. Madonna’s controversial yeah we all know that. She pushes boundaries; well. I guess you don’t watch Hollywood films since they’re also manufactured. Ray of Light was one of her biggest hits (and one of her best albums commercially and critically) with no help required from Aphex Twin thank you very much.

  • The only reason she is doing this( getting her ass out and her nipple out in a previous show) is to make up for the lack of voice, entertainment and overall fun at her shows. She should seriously considering retiring at this point. The rigor mortis has already kicked in look at the state of her like. She is practically dead but kept going on some kind of medication. Never knew why people liked her in the first place!

    Reply
    • Well you don’t have to wonder much, she is the most successful female recording artist ever, and that’s according to the Guinness Book of Records, and she will have the most successful tour of 2012, but your comments are ageist and misogynist, and if you’re not interested in her why make the effort to comment, troll.

      Reply
    • Rubbish! I’d say she’s ten times fitter than most of the people on here saying she’s past it? I’m not a big fan to be honest and I think the music she’s released the past few years has seen her try too hard to stay relevant in a club dance scene but why should she retire because of her age and not all the male musicians like Bruce, Leonard Cohen, Rolling Stones, Jimmy Cliff, Stone Roses etc.?

      Reply
    • Probably would have been a better show if she sang out her arse

      Reply
    • I never said I wasn’t interested in her. Good or bad, celebrity brings with it attention whether that be positive or negative. Fair enough she can be classified as the most successful female artist of all time with over 300 million albums sold worldwide, but think about it. The woman has been at it for years!! These sales have accumulated over the years. Props to her for her success but just like other major artists out there, they can’t keep up with the young talent when it comes to live concerts. I have heard nothing but negative reviews from her current tour. Her success will never leave her but what I am getting at here is “why continue with live tours if you can’t entertain as well as you used to, or you have to substitute your voice with controversial events ie.mooning, nipple slippin etc.

  • Why was she using guns?? Disgraceful after what happened in colorado she should quit while she is ahead as is long past her best the boss is a different story a guy that knows how to work a crowd

    Reply
    • She was using guns because it’s part of her song Gang Bang. If you knew the lyrics you’d know why. Her tour began in Israel weeks before the Colorado shootings. What should she do, change the whole thing mid-way which took months of preparation? If she was playing Colorado then maybe there would be an argument. Instead of people saying she should change her show, how about suggesting the American government and gun lobbies change their policies! Yes, she is past her best, but then so is Springsteen. They were at their peaks long ago. If you actually attended any Madonna concerts, like the one last night, you’d see how she works the crowds. One doesn’t be labelled Queen of Pop if they’re muck on stage. She also wouldn’t be able to command an eighty odd shows on her current world tour. Some people just love to slate Madonna without any idea of what they’re talking about.

How is Springsteen past his best? Just delivered his 8th no 1 album in the last ten years and every review in every paper last week said he is still the best live act in the world and mops the floor with the competition.

    • Madonna just delivered her twelfth number 1 world-wide. The only artist in the UK to do so surpassing Elvis’s eleven.

I said 8th in the last TEN years, not since the start of his career. You can’t compare the two anyway. One writes amazing lyrics, sells out all gigs, plays with stunning heart and passion for 3 1/2 hours, cares about the fans and us genuinely a nice person. The other is madonna.

      Reply
    • I was at both and Springsteen’s a much better performer. Madonna’s production was brilliant, stage and everything-unbelievable but if the Boss is past his best how could he keep a crowd going for over 3 hours. By the time Madonna came on stage last night, Bruce had already played two hours!!! I enjoyed both, but for different reasons.

To be honest I don’t know why she bothered coming here, we don’t even have a proper stadium with a roof, this is Ireland! She made jokes about the rain I wouldn’t say she complained about it but got out there and got on with it! And to be fair could we expect anything else from Matt Cooper?

The Matt Cooper who is one of the best, natural broadcasters on any subject in this country? Hope ye enjoyed the lip syncing to pre recorded tracks.

      Reply
    • Agreed, we very much enjoyed it, but then again we are the kind of fans who like the new songs as well as old and are not infected with man-boyband mummy-pop-itis which prevents you from listening to anything artists recorded more than 10 years ago. Part of the problem of endless tours of decaying elder pop stars playing albums of 20+ years ago is that many fans are now conditioned to expect only nostalgia.

My only criticism is that the Aviva is too large a venue for very visual shows as half the stadium are just too far away.
