Here's what we know so far about tonight's Super Bowl halftime show

Katy Perry! Lenny Kravitz! Real lions and sharks (maybe)!

TODAY IS SUPER BOWL Sunday, and right now Irish American football fans are gearing up for a long night of sports’n'snacks.

For those of you who aren’t as interested in the football side of things, there is the halftime show, which has been getting more and more over the top since Janet Jackson’s ‘wardrobe malfunction’ back in 2004.

Beyoncé brought it to another level with her amazing, Destiny’s Child-reuniting 2013 performance, so what’s Katy Perry going to do to beat that?

Well, she’s going to bring real live lions and sharks on stage with her, is what she’s going to do. Here’s everything we know about Perry’s halftime show plans so far.

What time can I turn my attention to the halftime show at?

Let's go katyperry katyperry

The game kicks off at 11.30pm our time but American football games are notoriously stop-start, so we can probably expect the halftime show to start at any time from 1am onwards.

What’s Katy going to sing?

At a press conference on Friday, Perry revealed that she would be singing Roar and Firework, which will no doubt pump up the crowd.

There’s also a potential cover on the cards, but she says it hasn’t been set in stone.

Is she going to have any special guests?

Yes. Lenny Kravitz is going to share the stage with her at some point during the performance – Perry has promised something “incredibly soulful” that’ll make the night even “sexier”.

“Just the appropriate sexiness, everyone. Family fun,” she then clarified. Oh, but of course. But will he bring his scarf?

There are also whispers about a second, female guest, rumoured to be rapper Missy Elliott. We’ll take that, thanks.

What’s this I hear about lions and sharks?

From what we can gather, Perry intends to bring real-live animals on stage with her, saying that she said that she will be the “only person in Super Bowl history that will bring a lion and sharks to the show”. Oh boy.

Is she going to get into the whole American football theme?

Just look at her outfit from Friday’s press conference.

The woman has footballs on her boobs, people. She’s into the American football theme.

Other than that, she’s divulged that her opening costume will be “flaming hot”. Lions, sharks and flames? C’mon now.

Is there any truth to the rumours that she’s using her Super Bowl performance to get back at Taylor Swift?

Well, bagging the halftime show is a big win for Katy, but she’s probably not going to come running out on stage wearing an “I Hate Taylor Swift” t-shirt.

Though in a pre-Super Bowl interview with Billboard, she did say that if someone was trying to “defame” her character, we’re “going to hear about it”. Oh.
