Australian TV anchor wears same suit every day for a year to highlight sexism

Surprise, surprise: nobody noticed.

MEET KARL STEFANOVIC.

He presents Australia’s Today morning TV show alongside Lisa Wilkinson. Ticked off by how his female colleague’s outfits were placed under a microscope and frequently criticised by both the media and the public, Stefanovic decided to conduct a little experiment.

He wore the same blue suit on-air every day for an entire year to see if anyone would notice. (Surprise, surprise: they didn’t.)

Stefanovic stated that he felt women were judged far more harshly for what they do, say and wear, whereas men weren’t held to the same standard.

As he told Fairfax Media:

I’ve worn the same suit on air for a year – except for a couple of times because of circumstance – to make a point.I’m judged on my interviews, my appalling sense of humour – on how I do my job, basically. Whereas women are quite often judged on what they’re wearing or how their hair is … that’s [what I wanted to test].

The experiment has won Stefanovic legions of new fans.

Take a bow, sir.
