Transformers star Jack Reynor answers the most important Irish questions

When Emer met Jack…

IRISH ACTOR JACK Reynor has hit the big time.

Well, it doesn’t get much bigger than starring in the Michael Bay explosion-fest Transformers: Age of Extinction, does it?

DailyEdge.ie sat down with the actor ahead of last night’s Irish premiere at the Savoy cinema in Dublin, and asked him the most important questions:

(Puzzled about the Horse Outside question? Reynor’s fiancée Madeline Mulqueen starred in the Rubberbandits video, so we had to ask)

Also at the forefronts of our minds were questions about the soundness of Mark Wahlberg and Michael Bay (soundness being very important to the Irish):

One of the most interesting aspects of Reynor’s performance is the fact that he kept his distinctive Irish accent, although his mysterious heritage is never quite explained in the film.

He told us that Michael Bay wanted it that way:

Reynor has just finished up filming Macbeth with Michael Fassbender and his beard. He said mastering the Scottish accent for his role as Malcolm was easy enough:

I have loads of Scottish family and I spent a lot of my childhood over there in Dunfermline and Edinburgh So I didn’t really have a problem with it and I just relished the challenge of trying to make that verse accessible for a contemporary audience and putting a new twist on it.

Reynor told DailyEdge.ie that he plans to remain committed to being involved in Irish independent projects as well as the big blockbusters. On top of Macbeth he’s just finished filming Gerard Barrett’s Glassland in Dublin, which co-stars Toni Collette and Will Poulter.

Oh, and we also asked him if he imparted any Irish slang on the Transformers set; calling people “you big bo**ox” and such. He said he kept it clean. For the most part.
