YOU COULDN’T MAKE it up. This screenshot has been gaining traction in the last 24 hours: the one that lists Twitter users who didn’t realise that the story of the Titanic (the film) was based on a real event.
As it turns out, Huffington Post Entertainment spotted the ‘discovery’ trending on Twitter last week and has another selection of bemused users here.
But let’s not single out these Twitter users alone for not realising that the 3D version of Titanic was being released because it is the centenary of the sinking of the real ship, with the loss of 1,514 lives.
This Yahoo Answers contributor was likewise puzzled (although a former resident of Cobh weighed in to convince him it was true.)
And someone went to Answers.com to ask the same question…
