AN IRISH STUDENT has seen his drawing displayed on the Google search page today after he won a competition held by the tech giant.
He won after a public vote on the Doodle4Google site among the drawings, which were made around the theme “I wish…”
Horan said at the time that his drawing, which shows the letters of the company’s name transformed into cogs and gears, represents the mechanisms of a clock.
I wish I could turn back time to see our world in past times. My Doodle shows the mechanisms inside a clock slowly turning back the hands of time making my wish come true.
The ‘Google Doodle’ concept – altering the company’s logo to reflect a topical event or theme – was begun in 1998, with the first professional ‘doodler’ hired in 2000.
