Love cats? Ireland's first cat café is looking for donations

Founder Georgina O’Neill has set up a crowdfunding page to help raise money for the café.

IRELAND IS NOW one step closer to getting its own cat café with the setting up of a crowdfunding page to raise money for the moggie palace.

Last October DailyEdge.ie spoke to Georgina O’Neill, the brains behind the whole operation, who said she came up with the idea after seeing photos from her brother’s visit to a cat café in Japan.

She got the ball rolling on an Irish version, setting up a Facebook page and scouting out interest – in about a month, she had already received 70 CVs from people who wanted to work at the potential café.

Yesterday she took the first step in actually making her dream a reality – setting up a crowdfunding page to help collect the funds needed to open the café.

She writes:

All funds raised will be used to get the Crazy Cats Café up and running. Things we need [include] permits and licensing, renting a suitable premises, hiring and training staff, cat toys, food and equipment, and getting our cats health checked, vaccinated and wormed.

O’Neill says the cats will come from a local animal charity, and will be well looked after by the staff of the café.

The café will serve coffee and pastries, and she assures potential customers that all food preparation will be done far, far away from prying cat eyes and paws.

O’Neill hopes to raise €50,000 in this manner by April 2 – since the crowdfunding page was set up last night, €226 has been raised towards the goal.

Donate to the cat café here, and make a cat lover’s dream come true. You can keep up with the progress on the Crazy Cats Café Facebook page.
