iPhone self-combusts on regional Australian flight

One Apple customer was shocked to see that his iPhone 4S had started glowing and emitting smoke during a flight.

A CUSTOMER ON an Australian passenger flight was shocked to notice that his iPhone had begun glowing and emitting smoke as the plane began to touch down in Sydney this week.

Flight attendants on the Regional Express flight “carried out recovery actions immediately and the red glow was extinguished successfully,” according to a statement released by the company.

Nobody on board the flight was harmed during the incident, however the airline has reported what happened to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau and the Civil Aviation Authority (CASA), reports TechDigest.

CASA has previously expressed concerns about lithium-ion batteries on aeroplanes.

Lithium batteries are listed as a dangerous good by the International Air Transport Transport Association.
