In pictures: Dogs ride waves in surf competition

Wipeouts, breakers, catching the big Kahuna – these dogs did it all.

WE’VE ALL HEARD of the doggy paddle – but the doggy surfboard might be a new one to some.

Surf-loving dogs (and their owners) assembled yesterday in San Diego, California for the annual Incredible Surf Dog Challenge.

The competition was divided into three categories – small dogs, large dogs and “tandem” (dogs and their owners), U-T San Diego reports.

The ‘small dog’ crown went to Jedi the Australian Kelpie, while golden retriever Kalani claimed the title among the bigger pooches. Here’s how it went down:
