Meet the Windsors

How do you do? The Obamas check in at Buckingham Palace

As they begin a three-day state visit to the UK, the Obamas meet the royal newly-weds and trade stories from Ireland with the Queen, allegedly.

FRESH FROM PINTS and the craic in Moneygall and Dublin, the Obamas European engagements took on a more formal feel today as the President and the First Lady met with Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth and family at Buckingham Palace.

As it is a State visit to the UK, the First Couple will stay at Buckingham Palace whilst Barack meets with prime minister David Cameron to discuss matters of foreign policy.

A state dinner is also on the agenda.

But today it was all about introducing the newly-weds as Prince William and Kate Middleton, or the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, met with the Obamas and exchanged pleasantries.

Rumours that Queen Elizabeth and the Obamas traded stories from their Irish sojourns were not immediately confirmed…
