McDonald's worker allegedly hid heroin in Happy Meals

Would you like a high with that?

SPITTING IN BURGERS and doing unspeakable things to food: That’s generally about as bad as it gets when it comes to complaints about fast food workers.

Not in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania though. Oh no.

One McDonald’s employee took things to a whole new level there.

26-year-old Shantia Dennis was arrested after undercover officials carried out a sting operation. CNN reports that authorities believe she’d been secretly selling heroin to customers, hiding their hits inside Happy Meal boxes.

Mike Manko, communications director for the Allegheny County Distict Attorney’s Office revealed that those looking for the drug were instructed to proceed to the drive-through and say “I’d like to order a toy”.

Dennis denied dealing drugs as she was led away by officials but USA Today says a narcotics unit discovered another 10 bags of heroin in a Happy Meal. A further 50 bags were found in her possession.

WPXI  revealed that investigators were particularly concerned about the dangerous nature of the crime. Gregory Geppert of Swissvale police said:

It’s possible that this could have been given to somebody else with a child in the car who was legitimately buying a Happy Meal, and it could have been very dangerous for a child to get this heroin.

The station also revealed that Dennis is the second McDonald’s worker to be arrested for allegedly selling heroin on the job in the past fortnight. A male employee at another restaurant was accused of selling heroin in the car park.

It is unclear whether the incidents are connected.
