The foal left behind after his mother was beaten to death has a new home

There is a happy ending for this poor little guy.

HERO, THE FOAL captured in an incredibly sad image which went viral last week, has a new home.

The image shows Hero standing over his mother who had been brutally beaten in the Ballyguile area of Wicklow town.  The mare was later euthanised and Hero was taken into the care of the Irish Horse Welfare Trust, who have now found him a new home.

According to Sharon Newsome, the CEO of the Irish Horse Welfare Trust, Hero has settled into temporary accommodation ahead of moving to his new home in a few weeks.

He’s grand now and has settled in fine.  He was a bit nervous in the beginning as he had been moved around a lot, but thankfully he’s doing well now.

Newsome indicated that Hero’s new home was a great one for him, saying,

He’s going to a lovely five star home which will be great. It’s a nice happy ending for him.
