Those annoying couples on Facebook? They're happier than you

So now.

IT MAY BE hard to believe, but a recent study has found that the more couples post mushy statuses on Facebook, the happier they are together.

Researchers at the University of Houston and Pennslyvania State University studied 188 students in relationships and found that those who put up social media posts about their relationships were more happy in them than those that didn’t.

Lead author of the study Mai-Ly Steers said that saying it ‘loud and proud’ can only mean good things for a relationship, so lay off the eye-rolls while scrolling down your feed post-Valentine’s.

Posting about one’s relationship on Facebook may be positively related to the quality of the relationship because it symbolizes making a public commitment to the relationship. An individual is highlighting to themselves and to others that the relationship is an integral part of his or her self.
