German girl's sweet 16th ruined after she accidentally invites all of Facebook to party

The girl inadvertently invited all of Facebook to her birthday party with around 1,600 people obliging but it all ended in tears…

A GERMAN GIRL inadvertently invited the whole of Facebook to her 16th birthday party resulting in some 1600 or so ‘guests’ descending on a sleepy suburb of the city of Hamburg yesterday.

The 16-year-old, known only as Thessa, accidentally listed her birthday – which she had hoped to celebrate with a close group of family and friends – as a public event with 15,000 people responding to confirm they would be attending, reports Deutsche Welle.

Despite attempting to cancel the party, hundreds of people descended on her house with police forced to erect a cordon around the property.

German tabloid Bild has published a video of people arriving at the house in their hundreds, ready to party with ghetto blasters and other party paraphernalia.

Whilst things started off fairly politely with revellers in a jovial mood they soon got nasty according to Welt (German).

It reports that neighbours were in no mood to party as some of the crowd climbed onto garage roofs, rubbish bins were set on fire and cars were wrecked.

Police eventually arrested 11 people and several people sustained minor injuries due to heavy alcohol consumption.

The party ended in the early hours of this morning with some of those in attendance saying they would return next year.
