HERE AT THEJOURNAL.IE and DailyEdge.ie we’re big fans of the googly eye.
There is something poignant about the addition of googly eyes to pieces of litter though.
Italian photographer Caterina Lodo has published a series of images called Don’t Abandon Rubbish Around, which features items she photographed around Galway city.
She told DailyEdge.ie:
One morning last week I went for a run along Claddagh Park beach and I’ve noticed more than usual that on the beach and along the path there was a large amount of rubbish left on the ground.
I’ve never been able to understand why people do that, why they can’t simply carry their rubbish to the bin.
Lodo said that she wanted to design a project to educate people in some way, without the ‘usual preaching’.
So she decided to create a story around the pieces of rubbish she photographed…
By giving the rubbish items a personality and a story I believe that first of all people are more prone to listen, because they somehow enjoy reading about each character.
