If you’re annoyed about being at work and not getting to enjoy the sun, at least you’re not risking a burn like this…

PEOPLE OF CORK, we understand that the weather hasn’t been as terrific down your neck of the woods as it has been in most of the rest of the country.

So, in order to make you feel a little bit better – and to cater to the office workers who will no doubt feel grouchy at being unable to enjoy the sun – we present: some of the worst sunburn photos we could find.

(Remember: you don’t need to get sunburned to get skin cancer. Stay safe in the sun.)

This unfortunate lady's tattoo reads 'Kapow!'. Just remove the Kap- bit and she's right on the button... Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/goldberg/2669735461/
  • Bad sunburns (2)

There's little worse than burnt lips - an oddly common complaint for skiiers, whose lips burn from the light reflected back off the snow. The peeling is the worst. Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/79305942@N00/2819659231/
  • Bad sunburns (3)

To this person's credit, they must have been keeping VERY still - that's a pretty excellent straight line. Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hawk684/108139247/

Always make sure to cover EVERY part with sunscreen. Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dklein/4710417948/
  • Bad sunburns (9)

When we say EVERY part, we mean it... that's a pretty unfortunate shape. Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rjw1/3563021214/
  • Bad sunburns (10)

Every part means the hairline, too: nobody wants a brown face and a white head. Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/c-130/27121385/
  • Bad sunburns (11)

We reckon the ankle is one of the worst places to burn, given how difficult it becomes to wear shoes afterwards. Your thoughts? Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tswicegood/3473279199/
  • Bad sunburns (12)

Proof, if you needed it, that a wristwatch is not adequate protection from the sun. Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dainec/18452185/
  • Bad sunburns (13)

Someone is REALLY going to regret their afternoon lying out in the sun. http://www.flickr.com/photos/timparkinson/1312737125/
  • Bad sunburns (14) - the aftermath

DON'T pull it off yourself! After the trauma of a sunburn, your body needs time to recover. Let it shed the skin at its own pace. Photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/abbamouse/2632409087/
