Believe it or not, not everything that appears on Reddit, 4chan, Imgur or any similar site originates on those sites. Just because you see it there, it doesn’t mean that’s where it came from.

As for the question “anything TheJournal.ie doesn’t take from Reddit?”, I’ll direct you to all corners of our site and I think you’ll find that the answer to your question is a resounding yes; there are countless articles on TheJournal.ie not “taken from Reddit”. You are welcome to read them and share them on Reddit to your heart’s content.

There is one image in this slideshow which originated on Imgur, and is thus credited, so Brian, your allegations of “copying” are unfounded.

None of the 10 other images are “taken from Reddit”. Mark you may have seen them there during the long hours you must spend perusing the site, but we certainly didn’t.

I agree with Mark here. Amazing that this tip jar buffoonery was trending on Reddit’s front page yesterday then lo and behold its on here the following day.

Some coincidence. Just sayin’, like.

The image (one of eleven) was also trending on Imgur, probably via Reddit but it’s much of a muchness, and the credit is right there in the story. We can’t embed the links in the slideshow at the moment so the source links are placed directly underneath.

Content from TheJournal.ie pops up on Reddit all the time. Sometimes credited, sometimes not. We credit faithfully everytime we can, and never intentionally omit a credit.

@emer I’d still like to know why the personal insult comment is allowed stand? Is this a case of double standards journal? Upset one of the staff and insults from other posters are allowed stand? Yes, I am deeply offended by it.

I don’t spend ‘hours’ on reddit either, so sorry to disappoint Emer. It just so happened that photo was trending on Reddits main page. Tongue in cheek comment that you obviously took to heart.

Mark your comment was deleted because it was a response to a comment that had also been deleted. It is common practice to delete comments which are responses to removed comments, so they don’t appear to be out of context.
