People are losing the rag about the price of Freddo bars

Riots in the streets. (Well, not quite.)

THE RISING PRICE of classic, well-loved sweets has long been a sore point for the people of this country.

We’ve gotten used to our beloved Freddo bars’ 25c price tag, but still look back fondly on the days when we could buy two whole Freddos plus a few penny sweets for the same amount of dosh.

So speculation on Twitter that the price had risen a whole 5c from 25c to 30c has generated a wave of (perhaps justifiable) outrage.

DailyEdge.ie did some investigating and came up with the cold hard proof, right there on the packaging.

So what’s the deal?

We contacted Cadbury for comment, and they had this to say:

Our decision to add five cents to the price of Freddos is based on financial factors such as commodity pricing and rising costs. We still believe Freddos are a great value, affordable treat and we hope you do too.

So now.
