HAS 2011 BEEN the worst year for celebrity break ups?
Yesterday pop singer Katy Perry and comedian-slash-actor Russell Brand brought an end to their 17-month marriage – and now we have the news that singer Katherine Jenkins and TV presenter Gethin Jones won’t be going ahead with their wedding.
The Daily Mirror says that the two had a “heart to heart” that ended in them calling time on their relationship of four years.
They both took to Twitter to tell their fans about the break-up, with Jenkins saying she had “sad news”, before continuing:

Another couple that took to Twitter to tell their fans about their relationship were IT Crowd star Chris O’Dowd and his longtime girlfriend, Dawn Porter.
But in their case, it was more positive news they had to share.
In his own inimitable style, Roscommon-raised O’Dowd tweeted:
Porter took a cue from Beyoncé and tweeted:
O’Dowd and Porter were on holidays in Porter’s native Guernsey at the time, and according to the Guernsey Press, O’Dowd asked his girlfriend’s family for permission to marry her before he popped the question.
The couple have been together for nearly three years.
He gave Porter an emerald engagement ring, to replace a ring belonging to her mother that she has worn since the age of 16.
It is not known yet if the couple will marry on Guernsey, or here in Ireland.
