SOMETIMES, WORDS ARE simply not enough.
There are times in life when you want to go the extra mile to show the people closest to you that you really do care. A special gesture, a surprise gift, or just an unexpected compliment can really turn someone’s day around.
Here are some ingenious, creative ways to pay it forward…
1. To mark a special birthday
Leave them a special message on the bathroom mirror to greet them first thing in the morning (before their breakfast in bed, of course). You could even go one better and write it in soap on the mirror, so it only appears after their shower in the steam. Cute, and doesn’t cost you a red cent.
2. Spreading some cheer
There might be someone in your life that needs cheering up – maybe they’ve had a rough time of things lately and need a reminder on why you care about them. Get a jar and some chocolates, and attach a reason you love them on each chocolate. They won’t be able to NOT smile when they eat each one.

3. For that kid (or big kid) in your life
For a really creative way to show children your appreciation, make a balloon avalanche for their bedroom. Tape lots of balloons across their door and as they remove them, they’ll be showered in good times. Have the camera at the ready!
4. Another year on
In this age of digital downloading and Spotify, mix tapes have been left by the wayside. But there’s a reason they were once so ubiquitous. An ideal anniversary gift for your partner is a self-made, physical copy of your favourite music from down through the years – and alright, it can be on CD instead of a cassette. (Although, if you want to really go old school, you could get them a Walkman to play it on…)
5. Wedding bells
Looking for a personalised touch as part of your wedding gift for a happy couple in your life? Why not make them their own couple vouchers? You’ll know them better than anyone, so you can tailor each love coupon to their particular relationship. Ideal.
6. Growing some gratitude
