Écoute le pitter patter! France's first lady fuels pregnancy rumours

“I would certainly like to talk to you, woman to woman..I would love to speak about it,” the French first lady admits, as a magazine claims she’s expecting twins.

A FRENCH magazine has claimed that Carla Bruni-Sarkozy  is expecting twins with her husband, the 56-year-old French premier.

Voici magazine quoted contacts in the fashion world, who claimed that the 43-year-old first lady “won’t be able to keep her bump hidden for much longer”.

In an editorial published today, the magazine said:

We can now be a little more specific about the speculation that the first lady is pregnant. She is expecting twins.

The rumour mill first went into overdrive yesterday, after Le Parisien published an interview with the singer, in which she offered a rambling response to the question of whether she was pregnant – and didn’t smoke a single cigarette during the two and a half hour interview.

It’s kind of you to have asked. If you’ll permit me, I won’t answer all these questions about my family. I also have a little boy – I don’t answer questions about my little boy. If we were both at a café, I would tell you frankly .. I would certainly like to talk to you, woman to woman, about my family life, about my personal dreams, details about certain things. In addition, I’m very talkative. But then, I’m kind of lips sealed.  Not out of arrogance or out of a taste for secrecy. My lips are sealed to protect something… I would love to speak about it.

The newspaper also posted a video online, which shows Bruni-Sarkozy holding a scarf in front of what appears to be a growing bump.

Throughout the interview with Le Parisien, Carla clutched a scarf to her stomach

The singer already has a nine-year-old son, while her husband Nicolas Sarkozy has two sons in their twenties from his first marriage, and a fourteen-year-old boy from his second.
