What’s Des Bishop doing in China?

He left this morning. And here’s a taste of his new show…

COMEDIAN DES BISHOP headed off to China this morning to spend a year learning Mandarin with the aim of performing a stand-up gig for native speakers.  Mad, Ted.

It’s all for a new RTE documentary, following in the footsteps of In The Name of the Fada.

In the meantime his latest offering, Under the Influence, will be shown on Thursday night at 10:15 on RTE 1.  In it, the recovering alcoholic is tackling Ireland’s attitude to the demon drink.
