Danger Mouse is coming back, and it's being made in Dublin

He’s the greatest, he’s fantastic.

IF YOU WERE a child of the eighties then chances are you were a fan of Danger Mouse.

The secret agent and his assistant Penfold were one of the most popular cartoon pairings of the golden age of cartoons.

And now, they’re coming back!

CBBC has commissioned a new series of Danger Mouse due to air in 2015. The series will be co-produced and animated by the Dublin company Boulder Media.

Boulder Media has been operating in Dublin for 14 years and employs around 85 people.

So what do we know about the reboot?

  •  A ‘mixed media approach’ will be used to give the show a distinct look and feel
  • Danger Mouse’s eyepatch will be replaced with an ‘i-patch’ with multiple technological functions
  • Penfold will be back as Danger Mouse’s sidekick
  • Danger Mouse’s HQ will still be houses in a red post box but it will now be packed with state-of-the-art wizardry

Original Danger Mouse co-creator Brian Cosgrave will act as a consultant for the series.

He said:

I am delighted that a whole new generation will be introduced to his daring deeds and thrilled to be part of this new 21st century series. I can’t wait to find out what he’s been up to for the last 23 years.

Danger Mouse originally ran for 11 years on ITV from 1981 to 1992. It was broadcast to over 80 territories worldwide.
