Moved to Brazil a few weeks ago and as a result am now the proud owner of an Ice Age 4 jigsaw puzzle courtesy if my box of chocolate flavoured cereal, none of that health and safety rubbish ruining everyone’s fun here!

Anyone remember the Disney Black Cauldron figures in Cornflakes

I can remember opening a box of Rice Krispies and getting TWO pencil toppers in the one box. It was like I won the lotto!! I nearly had a conniption!! Today’s cereal are crap compared to the eighties…

Wow! Memories flooding back there :-) I used to love the holograms stuck to the front of the boxes – better to cut around than try to peel off. I also remember getting a flexi disc you could actually listen to on a record player. Always loved getting stickers too. Ricicles did some great glow in the dark ones.

I still have the Rice Krispies pop up watch.
And it actually still works, after I popped in a new a new battery of course.

I’m still missing the Roy Keane card. I’ll swap anyone 3 Packie Bonners and 2 Ray Houghtons for Keano! Oh and I’ll throw in a Wham bar as well!

Loved rooting in the new box of cereal to find the new toy,, great memories,,, do they still put toys in boxes of cereal today???? just wondering because this week in work we were told by the management that run our supermarket chain that we are no longer allowed to put a ring in our halloween barn bracks,,, after 23 years being a baker ive put them in every year,, now we have been told there a choking hazard!!!! apparently in this day and age theres far to many people out there willing to sue who ever they can,,,, shame really………

What trip down memory lane! I remember records on the front of the cereal boxes, cut them off, onto the record player!

I remember taking the reflective part out of the Kelloggs reflectors and putting them on my school jumper. The old 2p used to fit in the back of them holding them on.

Still remember the huge disappointment as a kid when choosing the cereal based on what was the best free thingy, only to get home and find that they had put none in that box.. Dug around for hours in the cornflakes trying to find the toy but to no avail :(

Anyone remember the toy aeroplanes in corn flakes? Around the same time as the baking powder powered boats and submarines.

Gordon – that’s a shame about the ring in the brack, silly really, if you know there’s a ring in there you are going to watch every bite.

Used to be killings at our house , The minute the mother would come in with shopping some one would banxy the toy. I think that’s why she moved to porridge .

This was what made having breakfast fun, before stupid health and safty came along.
Now you can’t put anything inside cereal in case some stupid kid eats it and sues

Haha, the memories of me an my brother fighting to get the toy before mam woke up, then rushing upstairs to blame the other for the mess

I’m about to get sick because of the rush of nostalgia! I still have those star trek stickers on an old bedside locker in my parents house.
I remember the killings in my house to get the toy in the bottom of the cereal box when my parents came home from shopping. And when those corgi cars came in the post. Didn’t they have little cardboard towns you could build also to go with the corgi cars?

My dad wouldn’t buy Kellogs (too full of sugar) when I was younger, so got most of these second hand. I loved the Weetabix Star Trek stickers.

The Frosties Sonic the Hedgehog yoyos :D I think you had to send tokens away for them. I also had all the star wars episode 1 figures that came with the cereal! I had a technique where I managed to wait until some of the cereal was gone and would then tip the box around until the toy was revealed. I wasn’t allowed dig my hands into them.

I remember most of them. I also have a collection of weetabix trucks. Still have them and they’re nice and solid you can google the images of them.

Mine was the weetibix make your own car, just cut and shape…now I am a designer!! so blame them :-)

I cant find a link but i remember ET on the side of Shredded Wheat boxes with ET stickers inside…back in 1982.

I remember the frisbees that came with Rice Krispies and when the Casper movie came out, there were glow in the dark stickers of Casper and his three uncles! I also had the full collection of Wallace & Gromit pencil toppers.

Never saw The Black Cauldron but remember these figures vividly.

Jaysus….Kellogg’s have become so stingy….me kids used to love playin with whatever crap was in the box as we all ate our dinner of crispies’ …..as a treat for Sunday I’d let them have them with some milk . ….happy memories !!!

also I remember there was space Lego with some coupons but cannot remember that cereal either. Wasn’t real Lego either, just some second rate version but just as fun!

We used to que up at the table wanting to read the back of the cereal box to see what gift was there, or as the box could be made into a mask, we be glued to the back of the box reading it. Beats kids nowadays fighting over the tv remote over their cereal…ah…the good aul days!

Devastation when you saw the picture of the freebie on the box. You root and root and root looking for it. You’re little brother trying to tear the bag off you. Only for you to give up and let him try find it. That’s when you notice it’s one of those “collect the tokens and send away” malarkey.

These things will soon be a thing of the past, some cities have already moved to bad them for unethically marketing sugar laden products to children… It will do away with free toys with kids meals and cereal boxes…

Remember when Bart Simpson found the razor blade in his box of krusty the clown cereal and had to have surgery??? Why did we never get anything like that in our boxes??? Bart got 2 weeks off school!
