Capital idea: Photographer’s stunning time-lapse video of Dublin

TIRED OF THE same old grubby commute? Refresh your eyes with this beautiful time-lapse video courtesy of photographer Richard Twomey, who’s here to remind us that Dublin isn’t such a bad place after all.

Filmed at various locations around the city including the docklands, Sandymount strand and the romantic setting of Dublin Airport, the footage was all taken in March and April this year.

Have a look for yourself. Could our capital be – shock, horror – beautiful?

Tis lovely, suppose people having lived here all their lives just take it for granted. When I moved over I was breathless with some of the beauty within the city, a mixture of both modern and traditional buildings. I know people are pretty pissed off right now what with lack of jobs, money etc, but this truly is an amazing country, in terms of people and landscape, i love it here :-)

  Thats nice to hear Shirley, where did you move from?? Know what you mean re taking it for granted, lived here all my life but sometimes we do the tourist thing and it gives you a totally different perspective on your own city!

  Hi Joan, ( your posts don’t half make me laugh!), moved from Liverpool, where I do love, but met one of your lovely Irish men whom I love more!
  Lots of people are still wanting to set up home here despite the dire economic situation, and it’s not because of the welfare I promise you, (well not with the people I know anyway) I believe it’s solely down to the fact that people always seem to have an affection toward Ireland. When I told people I wad moving over they were all like, ‘oh I’m so jealous I’d love to live there the people are gorgeous, the scenery is amazing etc’. And since ive been here I’ve LOVED it, yeah it’s been a struggle and people are being shafted every way but hey, where isn’t it like that these days, the UK is pure dump, trust me Xx

Now that’s what the government should use to promote tourism and create jobs not by lowering the vat on vending machine food and green fees!!

  I should be noted that Mr Sweeney does a lot for Tourism already by asking every lady he meets on holidays in Austria every year to come back to Ireland and marry him…

Hmmmmmmmm. Not sure. It is a nice piece of run of the mill time lapse. I enjoyed it more with the sound muted. also, not really sure if time lapse of traffic really make me feel as if Dublin is beautiful…… which it is…… Always the same old shyte.
