IF YOU’VE BEEN trawling the world of social media over the last couple of days, you’ll already know about the Camel Toe Challenge.

You’ll have seen a post on Twitter or Facebook, probably accompanied by one picture and someone saying they’ve been nominated for it.

It’s plainly a kind of spin-off from the Ice Bucket Challenge, and it’s supposed to be to raise money and awareness for cervical cancer. Almost all the posts about it are accompanied by this NSFW picture:

Some people are taking the debate kind of seriously.

Although some of the tweets are pretty baffling.

But sorry, guys. The Camel Toe Challenge isn’t real. Not even a bit.

It was born earlier this month as the even-more-unpleasantly-named ‘P***y Lips Challenge’, also known as the Fat Cat Challenge.

Vice tracked one source down to the Facebook page of someone named Khari Baldwin on August 11, and says it has identified the women – one as a Czech porn star. They managed to find one person doing the PLC.

With a bit of Twitter searching, we’ve located a total of three people actually engaging in the Camel Toe Challenge. One is porn star Jenna Ivory, and the other two appear to be people just posting embarrassing photos.

So no, the Camel Toe Challenge isn’t a real thing. But it IS everywhere. It’s on the front page of Reddit today… and Google searches are trending upwards.

So expect to see it popping up on your feeds sometime soon.

If you want to actually raise awareness or funds for cervical cancer research, you could do worse than donating to the Irish Cancer Society.
