ANOTHER NEW BAR is opening on Dublin’s busiest nightlife strip – this time, in a premises formerly occupied by a closed-down pub and off-licence.
The two fronts of Delaney’s at 17 and 18 Aungier Street – an unassuming place you’ve probably been walking past for years – are currently being refurbished in a project led by the owner of the successful neighbouring Whitefriar Grill, Geoff Nordell.
They are due to reopen later this month as Bow Lane, a cocktail bar and restaurant which will open late seven days a week. It describes itself as offering “sophistication in a gritty location”, and
an authentic inner city pub experience offering modern cocktails alongside really excellent food.
According to press materials the bar will be run by Dan Mulligan, who previously worked in 37 Dawson Street and Pichet. The release states:
Our aim is to create an authentic cocktail bar that appeals to a cross section of Dublin society from the gritty underclass of sophisticates to creatives and the party set.
It continues:
Bow Lane will have areas that satisfy a want for exclusivity and other areas that create a space for typical Dublin social intercourse [...] Bow Lane will be open seven days until late and the cultural focus is on live DJs and other special events timed weekly and monthly.
The interior is yet to be refurbished, but the Bow Lane Twitter account has been posting photos of designs that are their “inspiration”:

Cocktails range from €9-€11 and include the Phoenix Rises - Teelings whiskey, Guinness IPA syrup, vermouth, bitters and black cherry – and the Aungier Street Rambler (lime wedges, raspberries, Absolut peach, apricot brandy and prosecco).
The website currently shows bar food and restaurant menus, with mains (ribs, rabbit pie, seafood) running from from €16-€29. There’s also an early bird menu, €19.50 for two courses or €24.50 for three.
