Wow, I think thats the most superficial reply I ever got. to me, the only talent this women has is wearing short skirts and low tips and parading in front of others.
I’d rather see my daughter grow up admiring Rosalind Franklin or other great scientists, or great artists like Maria Callas, Janis Ian or even the local Garda or community nurse.

What part do you think is offensive Emer? I’ve seen her performance of last night on the news. Her singing is like any average pop singer and if it wasn’t for her looks and very visible “assets” she’d never be the star she is now.
I truly hope I can teach my daughter she is a person, who is beautiful and not a pretty body with a brain.

My answer will be consistent: I truly hope my daughter will never become the likes of Beyonce, that is my opinion and I’m perfectly entitled to it.
I’d suggest if you want to talk to other about how wonderful you find her, please comment on someone else’s post.

I don’t have children but if I did I’d want them to take whatever talent they’re lucky enough to have and go as far as they possibly could with it rather than push them into something to appease myself.

First of all, I commented as I do on many articles on this site. I don’t see the point of taking this so personal.

I certainly don’t push my children in any direction, as you might note, I gave a range of possibilities. However I’m sure they will have and follow their own dreams. I certainly hope my children can do without fame and riches as to me both are hollow.
These are my hopes for my daughter, that she won’t feel the need to show of her body like the current pop stars do. I hope that when the time comes she find the term “hoe” insulting. She is a person, not an object.

No, for the controversial part: I don’t see Beyonce as a talented singer. I can easily name at least 20 that surpass her in every way. To me, and emphasis on “to me” she has a much talent as the top ten x-factor candidates. She was groomed and mentored to become this image. It reminds me in many ways to Michael Jackson, who was mentored and groomed by his parents to stardom.

As far as I’m aware I haven’t said or implied others have to agree with me, these are my views and its beyond me why you’d take so much effort to argue about this or why it’s named offensive by Emer.

There are no role models on the music industry, as far as I can see from the age of 12-18 you have them listening to Keisha singing “I want to die young ” over and over, you have niki M talking about the two personalities she has inside her? You have constant sex scandals, skimpy clothes, don’t even get me started on Rhianna, “come here rude boy can you get it up, take it take take it love me” “whips and chains excite me” insane stuff to be singing about when you have a target audience of teenagers who are highly influential, I am only 22 most of my friends listen to this music also but I think a lot of it is disgusting! It would be better if young girls like marks daughter didn’t look up to these people.
