A step-by-step guide to how crap the weather will be this bank holiday

We’re done with you, summer 2015.

THE FINAL BANK holiday of the summer is nearly upon us. Oh yes.

Sure, we don’t have ridiculously high expectations of what the weather will be like but there’s always optimism that a fine long weekend will magically appear.

Met Éireann have killed that optimism this morning with the bleakest of bleak forecasts for the weekend.

Let’s break down what we have in store

Friday evening, right when things should be at their sweetest, is not looking good:

The rain will turn heavy for a time in the afternoon across west and northwest counties. However a clearance is likely here before evening with some sunshine breaking through later. Staying cloudy in the east with patchy rain and drizzle, most of which will occur later in the day.

So, the evening is the worst part of the day? Perfect.

Saturday improves slightly, though, raising hopes for a good weekend of tolerable weather so you can venture outside:

A few showers for Ulster and west Connacht, some of which may turn heavy. Generally dry elsewhere with sunny spells and light westerly winds. However a couple of showers may make their way across the midlands and into the Greater Dublin Region later in the afternoon.

The south of Leinster and the east of Munster will hold “fully fry” though, luckily.

But then Sunday comes in with a hammer blow:

A dull, wet day with widespread rain, persistent and heavy at times. Rather windy too, especially later. Highest temperatures of just 13 to 16 degrees, coolest over Ulster. Southeast winds will gradually increase fresh to strong and gusty.

The only upside of the weekend will be the odd romantic shift in the sleeting rain like:

Then, Monday, the glorious extra day off for many, comes in with some more bad news:

Damp to begin with patchy outbreaks of rain. Though it will become quite breezy, it should pick up as of late morning. Dry for much of the afternoon with bright or sunny spells, warm even where sunshine breaks through.
Showers will move into the south of Munster at times though, with rain arriving intowest and southwest counties towards evening.

Just in time for the bank holiday Monday fear ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks, Ireland.
