New app will rescue you from bad dates

The app schedules fake emergency calls from family members, neighbours and your boss giving you an excuse to cut your terrible date short.

A NEW APP released this month by online dating site eHarmony will rescue you from awkward first dates with fake emergency calls.

Users have the choice of scheduling a call if you are already pessimistic about the outcome of the date before you even get there or prompting a call during the dating disaster and the app will come to your rescue.

Bad Date Rescue offers a variety of fake calls so you can shake it up a bit and use a different one for each bad date. Your mother can call to tell you your sister has gone into labour or a neighbour can ring to say a pipe in your apartment has sprung a leak.

If neither of those take your fancy,  have your “boss” call to say everything in the office has all of a sudden stopped working and you are desperately needed to help fix it.

The heroic app will even provide you with a script so you know exactly what to say to your date.

So next time a first date starts to tell you about his pristine My Little Pony collection or her ambition to be the next Tallafornia star, hit the button and get the hell out of there.

Bad Date Rescue is available to download free on the website or in the App Store.

  • Michelle I am absolutely horrified that you think young girls are asking to be raped because they wear revealing clothes! No wonder victims of rape are terrified of reporting these vicious attacks. At the end of the day NO means NO and if a man can’t understand a simple two letter word then that is not the victims fault, no matter how they are dressed!
And Patrick, where the hell do I start with you?? Our daughters need Christ???? What the hell has Christ done to protect our daughters? This figure’s representatives I.e catholic priests, nuns and Christian brothers have been abusing our children for decades. I suppose they asked to be raped too in their ‘come rape me clothes’?!
    You make me sick!

  • Never had a date so bad that I wanted to be rescued. A few awkward ones, a few kinda boring ones, but was always happy enough to see the evening out. Maybe I’ve been lucky!

  • Patrick, I’m curious. Exactly how does this app “encourage rape”? Please explain.

  • I’m very confused by Patrick. Is he saying that if you tell a lie to get out of a date the result is you get raped, or alternatively, you deserve to be raped for lying. ??!! Shades of Adam blaming Eve for giving him the apple!!!!

  • @Michelle Rowan, nDo you really believe that ‘ only young girls get raped because they dress like sluts’ ?? nI’m sick to my stomach reading that comment, you should be so ashamed of yourself. Has anyone in your life ever been raped? Did you know it’s possible for men to be raped? Did you know in most cases of rape the victim knows the attacker? it must be nice to be so narrow minded, it means you dont have to stretch your tiny little brain to think outside the box a small bit. I shall just assume you’ve never put on a short skirt or a tight top in your life, maybe you don’t have the figure for it?? Maybe that’s why you’re directing your hate at ‘ young girls dressed like sluts ‘nIf you’re a troll then well done, if you’re not… I’m afraid for society with people like you having opinions like that.

    • Why would you ask Michelle if she’s ever been raped? That is shockingly rude. What does her sex life have to do with her feelings about slutty dress, etc? Please don’t let your emotions get in the way of an intellectual discourse on the issue as to WHY rape happens. It has been proven time and time again by sociologists and law enforcement specialists that rape often happens because girls dress in provocative attire thereby passively seducing predators who subsequently have sex with them against their will. Furthermore, the suggestion that more rape occurs in the church than in gen-pop ( general population) is ludicrous and blasphemous!

    • Most people are aware if this type of “rescue” app so the notion that you might be able to fool an “unsuspecting” first date that you received an emergency call is just silly. The fact is that even trying to employ something like this could prove to anger a man who might otherwise have had a fun date. By upsetting him, the door is now wide open for a sexual assault. We shouldn’t be surprised however that an app which essentially turns you into a liar also precipitates the rape experience.

    • Patrick: how many women are dating rapists to fall into risk of being raped using this app? Then do you really think if that was a rapist he would accept a no no, even if it wasn’t to the app, but to genuine refusal?
Finally this app is a bit of craic I suppose and nothing more, most mature dates would have more serious and genuine resolution either positive or negative, rather than faking mamas broken hip, Id think so!

    • It’s naive to think that only “rapists” commit rape. Most men are capable of rape. This has been proven time and time again by psychologists and sociologists. Even the kindest, most sensitive man, given the right circumstances and encouraged by Satan can be coaxed into committing rape. Rape is perhaps the most extreme form of self-expression as vile as it may seem. There are those, including women who have come to know that rape is often a gateway to liberation. Do not confuse what I am saying with condoning a horrific crime, but also please understand that rape is an ancient practice and was not always frowned upon like today. The rape fantasy is a known commodity in certain circles and the subconscious rape baiting of normal men through something as seemingly benign as an app is the work of dark forces. Rape is as much a part of modern life as love. Sad but true. Come back to the church!

  • I thoroughly agree with you, Kelvin. I was trying to make the point that I can’t see the logic to Patrick’s argument that lies on a date can encourage rape. In fact I think his posts trivialise the seriousness of rape and I hope no young girls would read anything he says and think that his way of thinking is in any way correct.
Actually, Patrick, I was questioning your logic in trying tie together lying on a bad date and rape together,to say nothing of your other preposterous and offensive posts.
