I…feel…old…

I remember watching the Eurovision that night as a 9 year old and being completely mesmerised by Riverdance. Hard to believe that was almost 19 years ago!!

Reading this made me feel old, then I saw Riverdance, smiled and thought, I’m glad I’m old, that was one of Ireland’s proudest moments and I witnessed it live plus Italia 90 was amazing….

The sad thing is, windows shutdown is just as annoying now with added frustration of updates.

I got married in 1995 and travelled the world working for a telecoms company. I now have a teenage daughter who thinks I’m a moron and keeps asking me do I want her to update the software on my iPhone.

When you’re old enough to have been in the presence of all 4 Beatles alive and well , that’s what old feels like . Children of the 1990s relax !

long, long ago in a time before boyzone, things were feckin great.

I was born in June 1995 and am currently preparing for the L.C so I certainly fit the demographic. Yeah. It seems that we really missed a hell of a decade. Ah well! Eventually it shall be our turn to lament our childhood. Part of the whole ‘Rite of Passage’, ‘Circle of Life’ thing an’ all!

I remember when I was a small boy, I used to run all the way to Hazelbrook farm!!!

You know what scares me? That people doing the leaving this year were born AFTER Friends started on TV. Ben would be 18/19 now. Wtf???

I love how some toys have stood the test of time – Lego, Barbie etc
But spare a thought for the ‘lost toy’ generation – pogs, barcode battlers, tamagotchi, fuzzy felt – we had it GOOD

1995 was the last scorching hot summer we had, I remember the beaches being packed. We’ve had a couple of mini ones since (’97, ’06) but nothing to compare with that heat wave.

Add to that, remembering when Zig and Zag were stolen from Irish children by the English. Feck the six counties, that’s what politicised me :D

I did my leaving cert in 95. Scary to think that people born when i did my leaving cert are doing theirs now. God i feel old. Great memories though.

I started college in 95 and we were still on Windows NT for another couple of years. It was the first time id used Microsoft windows or regularly used a proper PC, most college 1st years now are Bill Gates in comparison to me.

Hard to get to make sense of the passage of time. From your mid 20′s time just zooms by. It is ridiculous for these events to be 19 or 20 years ago.
These events feel a lot more contemporary than say the 1960’s/70′s felt when we were young.
I mean 19 or 20 years ago back then meant black and White tv and Morris minor cars etc.

I can feel myself getting older by the second. Oh wait, that’s literally what happens isn’t it? Carry on!

I was born in 1990 and I’m a leaving cert (had a few health issues in ’08 when I was firs doing the leaving), where do I fit in? :P

I still have that Playstation and I think still works oh i’m 40 now “thanks Journal. for those reminders”. And it was the Charlatans or Stone Roses for me not blur or Oasis.

I can remember them like it was yesterday. All very good memories apart from Kurt C. Where does the time go. Things were a lot simpler then. No massive mortgage and Esb bills and I went on the beer 4 nights a week. Oh how times have changed. I’m 39 , married with an 11 month old girl. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.

It’s scary to think 1995 and all these events are so long ago… where does time go to? I got a new cousin in February that year, she’s now 18 & getting ready for her Leaving, & to think I was already in secondary by the time she was born… It’s scary alright!

This makes me feel OLD! And i am only 24, born in 1989!

I spoke about Glenroe to a group of leaving certs today who looked at me like I had 7 heads.

I also still have my PlayStation! (and I am pretty sure it’d work if I plugged it in). Those were the days as they say :) I miss them. Things were much simpler then. Ah well back to getting old!

Riverdance was alright on the night.. but it has been miked to the last. It suited the year. But would love to see an end to that dance.

Whatever about the new generation not being able to remember Riverdance, all previous generations are carrying on the political tradition of having the memories of a goldfish – Gulp! Oasis my favourite band and blur were good but their music only connected with the over priviliged hipster/middle to upper class type crowd. Oasis beat them in the end because there are more working class people than privileged who bought their records.Hated the river dance.
