I never look at a hotels website for this very reason.

Whenever I’m looking up hotels usually trip advisor has all the reviews and pics from people who stayed there. Best way to go I reckon.

Rather be in the bad photos than be in this Irish winter to be honest!

Just spent few days in Hotel Vega in Moscow with the missus. It looked plain in brochure online, but when got there, entire place had been renovated in 2010. eBookers had been using old photos. Id booked a deluxe non smoking room with city view. Because they couldnt give us city view, instead of €70 pp/pn they gave us our stay half price. Decent, very decent and amazing staff and service.

I’m not a man of particularly high standards, but some of them look fine to me. It’s a tough climate globally so I’m sure hoteliers and other businesses have to glamorise their properties to attract consumers.

I’d happily go and check sow of them places out if someone would like to pick up the tab :-)

Wait… Hang on… Hotels use professional photography etc to sell their product?! This is scandalous. No other company in the world ‘fools’ us this way. I’m outraged!! #sarcasm

My Mandalay Bay beach experience was more like the first photo…only cos it was raining tho…

Wait till to see the photos of poland after the great unwashed have been there for the football.

The lighting has a huge part to play but the buffet was rank, that’s false advertising if their still using photos from the 80s

Uhmmm.
The first time I went to tenerife in 1984 I remember getting this holiday brochure and it displayed beautiful white sandy beaches.
When I got there the sand was black.
It would have to be black as the island is of vulcanic origin.
Just shows you though.
Don’t always believe what it says in the brochure..

We stayed in the mariposa c rica on honeymoon and I’d swear that was our actual room!!! The reality not myth… But it was great ah the memories……

Using the Mandalay Bay in Vegas is pushin this story a bit.Anyone lucky enough to have been to Vegas know that the hotels are huge and you can always get a chair at the pool cos they’re bleedin humongous pools. #bandwagon

In fairness to the hotel interior’s, the customers have probably robbed the trimmings since the photos were taken.

Glossy brochures well they have to look good otherwise you wouldn’t even pick them up
Trip advisor real people real holidays that’s best place to check your hotel

But always remember you get what you pay for

Just wonder if maybe a little trip to google earth/street view could be a help in these situations?

I always use Tripadvisor for checking real photos of the places I want to visit. Never look at photos provided by hotel!

Had to giggle after seeing the Hudson in there. I’ve stayed there. The bathroom is visible in the room. No walls, just glass partitions. Tiny rooms.

You see that in Ireland too. E.G: the swimming pool at The Heritage-it’s like a serene haven on the website and shot from an angle so it looks big.reality is its a tiny pool with kids swimming lessons all afternoon!not good if you’re there on a spa break.rest of the hotel is nice though!
